Electronic UV Sterilising Stethoscope

Mekkin's innovative Electronic Stethoscope is designed for Doctors and Nurses is used to electronically diagnose the patient, displaying readings on the LED screen. Research showed that 1 in 3 medical perfessionals misdiagnose paitents every year, therefore this was an important factor when designing. Mekkin combines this with using UV light to sterilise the stethoscope, improving infection control within hospitals. The UV light takes 5 seconds to eliminate bacteria between each patient.

Mekkin is a compact and lightweight device which allows Doctors and Nurses to transport the device around the hospital with ease.

Mekkin can convert acoustic sounds to an electronic signal and this can be amplified more for optimal listening

The Stethoscope is designed with a Docking station allowing the device to be constantly charged as this is an important factor for Doctors and Nurses in Emergencies

Our electronic stethoscope is different to normal stethoscopes. Mekkin has better sound amplification, the ability to record sounds for further analysis and is noise cancelling

The shape of the device had to be ergonomic for users to comfortably hold. Foam model prototypes were made to test a variety of different shapes before deciding. From here concept sketches were created based on the shape to ensure the consumer was satisfied with the design. 3D printed prototypes were then created to gather feedback from medical professionals before designing for manufacture.

The electronic screen shown on the top of our stethoscope is designed to show and record readings from patients heart and lung sounds to help check patients health and accurately diagnose.
